Most brand managers have heard the names — Midjourney, Runway, ChatGPT. Very few understand what each tool actually does, what it's best for, and how they fit together in a real production pipeline. This is that guide.
Why This Matters More in India Than Almost Anywhere Else
India's advertising market is enormous, fast-moving, and acutely cost-sensitive. The brands winning right now are not necessarily the ones with the biggest budgets — they're the ones producing the most relevant content at the highest frequency. AI production is structurally designed for exactly this.
A brand that can produce a campaign-quality reel in 48 hours moves at internet speed. A brand that takes 8 weeks to produce the same content is operating at a pace that the market left behind in 2022.
The Video Generation Tools
Runway Gen-4 — The Industry Standard
Runway is currently the most capable text-to-video and image-to-video tool available. Gen-4 produces cinematic footage with genuine camera movement, lighting physics, and motion coherence that earlier generations couldn't achieve. For brand films, product showcases, and atmospheric content, it's our primary tool.
Best for: Cinematic brand content, product films, atmospheric sequences, lifestyle footage.
Kling AI — Character and Motion
Kling, from Chinese developer Kuaishou, excels at character-consistent motion and human behaviour simulation. Where Runway is strongest on environment and atmosphere, Kling handles human subjects with more natural motion. We use both on most projects.
Best for: People-led content, testimonial-style visuals, character-driven storytelling.
Sora — Long-Form and World-Building
OpenAI's Sora produces longer clips with impressive world-building capability. Still being refined, but already useful for extended environmental sequences and certain types of narrative content.
Best for: Extended sequences, world-building, narrative environments.

The Image Generation Tools
Midjourney — The Creative Standard
Midjourney remains the most creatively sophisticated image generation tool. The aesthetic quality, particularly for brand and lifestyle imagery, is difficult to match. Version 6 and beyond produces images that are routinely mistaken for professional photography.
Best for: Brand imagery, lifestyle photography, editorial content, OOH visuals.
Flux — Speed and Consistency
Flux from Black Forest Labs is faster than Midjourney and, critically, more consistent across variations. When you need 20 variants of a product visual in the same style, Flux is often the right choice.
Best for: Product photography at scale, consistent ad creative variants, e-commerce imagery.
Adobe Firefly — Commercial Safety
Firefly is trained on licensed content, which makes it the safest choice for commercial applications where IP concerns are paramount. The output quality has improved significantly and it integrates directly into the Adobe Creative Suite.
Best for: Enterprise clients with strict IP requirements, print production, editorial use.
Audio and Voiceover
ElevenLabs — The Voiceover Standard
ElevenLabs produces the most natural AI voiceover currently available. Multilingual capability is excellent — Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and most Indian languages are supported with natural-sounding results. Voice cloning (with the appropriate licensing) allows brands to create a consistent brand voice at scale.
Best for: All voiceover applications, multilingual campaigns, brand voice development, audio content.
Suno — Music and Audio Branding
Suno generates original music from text prompts. For brands that need background music without licensing fees, or original jingle production, it's a significant cost saver. Quality has improved dramatically in recent versions.
Best for: Background music, jingles, audio branding, social content audio.
What the Stack Doesn't Replace
Strategic thinking. Creative direction. The ability to look at generated output and know whether it serves the brief or not. The judgment to know when to push and when the work is done.
These tools are extraordinary production instruments. But production without direction produces content without purpose. The brands getting the most from AI production are the ones that invest equally in the strategy and creative direction that precedes it.
The stack is the vehicle. The brief is the map. You need both.
Brief us on your next campaign. We'll show you what these tools produce when they're properly directed.
